Petition to Place Nurses in California Schools

The petition

We, the parents of children with insulin-dependent Diabetes Mellitus, petition the State of California to provide our children with safe and acceptable medical care in school. To maintain the safety of children afflicted with this life threatening disease, each elementary school must be required to staff a licensed medical provider able to administer insulin at every elementary school in the state of California. Due to the immediate life-threatening risks and meticulous precision required in subcutaneous insulin treatment, it is unreasonable and very dangerous for young children to provide for their own care. The current situation of schools staffed with only “unlicensed school employees� provides no “qualified� healthcare professional on site to deliver this medically mandated treatment.
