Reintroducing Figures to skating would exacerbate an already steep decline in the popularity of the sport. Fewer athletes would begin skating, or quit as soon as they started Figures, and the general public doesn't want to watch skaters go in circles. The difficulty of technical elements would decrease, as skaters would have less time to do triple and quadruple jumps, since they would also be working for hours a day on patch.
