This letter is in regards to the Shooting Range on Township Road 121. The property in current state and function is a nuisance to the peace of the neighborhood, danger to homes beside and behind where the shooting occurs and causes degradation of property values. The statement was made that this property would be used “occasionally for recreation”, “shooting like when anyone in the neighborhood would have a pool party”, of which neither seems to be true. Occasional shooting for everyone else in the area is not even once a month. For a period of one month, the shooting occurred every weekend. Also, when others in the neighborhood do shoot it isn’t consistently from one hour to all day event. This makes being able to enjoy the outdoors not possible. Even setting in the house with windows closed is still annoying as we can still hear the shooting all day. Basically to enjoy my property during the “occasional” shooting I have to stay in my house with something loud on the TV, mow the grass or go somewhere else. The peacefulness that was once a nice part of living here is disrupted more often than not. Current residents should not have to vacate their properties so that someone can shoot when ever and for however long the feel is occasional. The shooting between homes is a safety concern to the residents, (people, horses, and property). There are homes on County Road 115 directly behind the range. It would not take much of a miss of the targets to send a bullet astray fired from a high power rifle, semi auto gun or pistol. The great variation in people that have been on premise shooting brings into question the control of firing. Also raises the question if this property is being used as a business under the LLC that bought it. The longer this property is allowed to be used as it is will continue to affect the home values in the area. Who will want to purchase a home beside a shooting range? For example if we were trying to sell our property and had a open house on a weekend and it just happens to be during one of the “occasional” multiple hours long shooting sprees, I’m sure that will not be inviting to a possible buyer. When anyone else in the area does happen to shoot on their property it is normally for a short period of time and is not done often. In general people in the community have respect for others not sure I see that from the LLC that purchased this land.
