From one NU student to many others, I strongly oppose the current US political stance on the war in Iraq. As a study abroad student in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I have experienced some of the world-wide effects of our policy in Iraq. We're not making any new friends. I'm very upset that the Democrats recently approved another budget for the war without including a time-table for withdrawl of US forces. Although I do not support an immediate withdrawl, I am forced to resort to a more extreme political stance in the absence of a coherent alternative to the current political position. Through my experience abroad, I consider myself to be as American as it gets, and it makes me sad to think our country continues to be involved in this world conflict. Now I'm more than sad, I feel I must do something and get involved. If we don't develop alternative narratives to the war on terror, then I really feel that this fear politics we have now will only lead to similar disasters. Please continue to promote alternatives for those frustrated with the current system and the lack of responsibility in these representatives.
Thank you! |
