| 1484 | Michael Coffield | Paisley | Nuclear wepons are not for destroying armies. They are for killing millions of people. We have the ability in Britain to kill tens of millions of people if not more. How could we ever justify using such a weapon? Vietnam, Afganistan, Iraq, etc all prove that this is not the weapon that will end all wars, so why risk an accidental detonation? I do not want these weapons in my country, nor in the UK. |

| 1489 | Kirsty | Bedfordshire | It is utterly disgusting and unacceptable that apparently "civilised" nations should endevour to own such threatening military equipment as nuclear arms. Items which are indiscriminate are inhumane and unnecessary. To merely own such equipment is to assign your nation the label of "playground bully," just for the sake of keeping up with the Joneses. I shudder to think of the effects of actually using them. Knowledge that my country owns nuclear arms strips me of any patriotism or loyalty to the UK government: how can I be proud of or trust individuals who are not pushing for progress in the form of multilateral nuclear disarmament? |
