57 Karen LucasLiverpoolLessons of history tell us that violence begets violence. By the same measure it's easy to see that defensive posturing stimulates the same in others. There is NO WAY to achieve true peace through owning the ability to annihilate. It really is time for a whole hearted and honest review our approach to security, with proper and full consultation of the people whom up are elected to represent. Peace - it's about time.

61 ASHTON COTIERlondonNot replacing Trident was an opportunity to buck the trend in proliferation and slowly set the ball rolling in the other direction. I don't believe in unilateral disarmament, but somebody needs to take the lead to move things positively away from the current state of affairs: the nuclear club keeps theirs, others try to get them, we oppose them and destroy their countries through sanctions and other means until they stop; and it goes on indefinitely. The only long-term solution is to create disincentives to wanting them, rather than starting needless wars to incentivise the opposite. The bottom line is that one day a mistake is going to happen; but the question I ask myself is would we really care?

78 giuseppe biondolondonDear Friends, My name is Giuseppe Biondo, I am a 22 years old young man, whose life is shared and oriented together with all supporters involved in the process to the achievement of a united world where freedom abounds and children of the sky are free to rise to greater heights, mankind evolution. With all respect to your positions and rules, i am addressing this message to you in recognition and consideration of the actual reality of this planet and the here and now possibilities of creative steps attainable and performable through the unity and solidarity appreciated among nations and people. Is there an efficient, true and self-evident reflection and door to the planetary culture of peace? How does comprehension of the fundamental importance of awareness of the surrounding happening into an unbalanced world and subsequently the performance of appropriate decisions and actions be reached without the applied-now epidemic worldwide dissemination of the message? An impartial investigation based on the UN General Assembly 55/282 on http://www.peaceoneday.org/page/unresolution has revealed that we all are invited as we read in paragraph 3 of the above-mentioned Resolution: 3.Invites all member states, organisations of the United Nations system, regional and non-governmental organisations and individual to commemorate, in an appropriate manner, the International Day of Peace, including through education and public awareness, and to cooperate with the United Nations in the establishment of the global ceasefire Therefore it is good to know and share the exiting proposal expressed on http://wwwpeace365.org and on http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Peace365/ in which the ideal action is to petition the United Nations to extend the Resolution 55/282 for additional 365 days please. I am looking forward to share acknowledgement and consideration of yours, please. In Peace giuseppe, marek and supporters
79 Natasha ForresterEdinburghTo spend such a ridiculous sum of money on such a disgusting and horrific piece of technology is mind boggling, particularly since it is built and maintained with the desire (supposedly) never to use it. spend the money on housing and education and the wonderful nhs, these are causes which will truly help our country and the people you purport to be protecting.

100 Jill BrianUpper Farringdon, AltonThe cost of nuclear weapons is not merely financial but the presence of more US sites in Europe will not be a deterrent but increase the risk of further proliferation and the return of Cold War mistrust as already illustrated by the Russian increase in military flights and comments by the army chief to Czekovslovakia today. The risk of terrorism by other groups will increase as the lack of unity by the big powers increases.
