Edison proposes to restart a defective nuclear reactor as early as June 1st. They admit it could not run safely for more than 11 months at 100%, but at the same time they say it is okay to run it at 70% power for 5 months, and see what happens, without fixing the problem first. The trouble with that proposal is that if the experiment fails, we won't know until radiation gets out of containment and into the environment. This time it could be a cascading event with thousands of already weakened tubes rupturing instead of just another pinhole leak. There is no way to anticipate a rupture when it is under power, and if that happens, it will be too late.

1 year ago Comments: It is well documented that the replacement steam generators at San Onofre nuclear plant are flawed with faulty design and fabrication changes. 8.4 million people across the CA southland, plus major business and military installations, and our unique, precious environment can not RISK more tube damage and another radiation leak from the plant. San Onofre nuclear plant is too risky to restart! Keep it shut and carry out complete evidentiary and independent hearings!
