National Postal Mail Handler 2011 National Contract Negotiation-Proposed Change to the 2006 National Agreement
We, the undersigned, propose an addition to the 2006 National Agreement which would mandate the involuntary retirement of all Mail Handlers who have attained the maximum years of service applicable towards their pension. Currently this is 41 years and 7 months of service. By adding this language to the National Agreement you will be creating job openings for the junior members who need employment for a greater percentage of their income versus pension eligible employees who, upon retirement, will receive the majority of their current income for the rest of their unemployed lives. Please take this proposal seriously when you begin contract negotiations as it will influence our continued support for the union and membership dues.
