We the undersigned scouts, adult scout leaders and concerned citizens hereby
charge the national council of the Boy Scouts of America with the duty to stop
the sales of all scout camps now and in the future. Scout camps across the country
have become a convenient target for liquidation and are used as a easy way
to solve financial problems or to increase endowment funds. Selling a scout camp
shows a callous disregard for the smaller local scouting communities that donated
and supported these camps over the years while also making scouting less visible and
available. The remaining camps as well as the smaller scouting communities deserve
to be respected as the valuable asset they are.
