Name: LESLIE STEWART on Jun 14, 2012Comments: The placement of an amusement ride in this location cannot be allowed to proceed. In addition, this would be a precedent-setting approval. If on Mt. Veeder, why not in other areas of agricultural watershed? I think there are more appropriate ways for EH to get the funds they need to operate the camp according to its use permit and in the manner it was intended. Many organizations in the Valley are quite successful raising funds through different types of events. Enchanted Hills needs to engage the community to help, not alienate us with trying to put such a destructive activity in the watershed.Flag

Name: Harris Nussbaum on Jun 14, 2012Comments: This is one of the most poorly thought-out projects I have seen during my 55 years in Napa. Mt. Veeder is a major bike route for bike riders, their lives as well as the lives of those who drive up and down this windy road will be at great risk of being killed. Enchanted Hills Camp is special because of the peaceful nature of it's surroundings. This will greatly diminish the experience for those using it as well as the quality of life for those living near it who have to listen to the constant screams from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm. It will affect endangered species and set a bad precedent for further commercialization of the Ag Preserve/Watershed. I urge everyone to please get involved. Don't let that happen happen. Write the supervisors and planning commissioners to voice your opposition the this bad idea where everyone loses except a couple investors.Flag

Name: Tom Flippen on Jun 15, 2012Comments: The proposed zipline / ATV course cannot possibly be the highest and best use on Mt. Veeder, Surrounding vineyards and lovely homes clearly suggest otherwise. Then there's the Napa-Sonoma Grand Prix course (aka Oakville Grade). No way can it handle the anticipated volume of traffic, and highly unlikely local taxpayers would agree to foot the bill for the engineering nightmare required to widen that rustic roadway. Two thumbs down on this unaesthetic, commercially-questionable, environmentally disruptive, noise-polluting project. And, Lighthouse For The Blind has a revenue-generating alternative: ecotours . eco-camping. Much more in keeping with the area's serenity and natural beauty, and just might generate volunteers to assist the sightless constituency.Flag

Isn't 'Lighthouse for the Blind' the same clowns who sponsor that ghastly "bicycle race" down the Mountain , gum up the roads, impede everyone's progress with would-be 'enthusiasts'? No. No carnival rides. Where may I sign up to sue? KR, DAL-KJFlag

Name: John D. Kelly on Jun 16, 2012Comments: A very bad idea. This commercial "zipline" project will create serious additional problems for the Mt. Veeder residents and do nothing for the community other than make a lot of money for the developers. Adding to the trafic on Mt. Veeder road by 40% is dangerous and irrisposible. Its time Napa County said NO to further development on this mountain. We have lost historic forest land to vineyard development, seen the depleation of the watertable, ran the gautlet of the 3:00pm vineyard worker indi 500, and now a proposed amusement park, ENOUGH ALREADY!Flag

Name: Andrew Baier on Jun 16, 2012Comments: I oppose the zip-line. It will only attract more bicyclists who refuse to obey vehicular laws and often refuse to share the road. It will also increase the number of slow and lost drivers who refuse to use the pullouts when other vehicles are stuck behind them. This will be a negative impact on all residents who need to ingress and egress in a safe and timely fashion. The lighthouse for the blind camp may have a recreational use exemption since if was in operation before the ag-watershed designation, but that exemption should not allow this kind of expansion, it should only allow "grandfathered" activities.Flag
