World AIDS Day began officially on December 1st in 1995. The Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) headquarted in Atlanta, begin this campaign world wide to let people know about HIV/AIDS. In many arena's around the world, the disease was plagued with taboo, stigma and the blame was thought of as a "gay white boy disease." It's 2013 and we know that those rumors were untrue based on anyone's sexual orientation. People were dying and there was no where to go. Back in 1995 and in the present day, there is still a cry for a wake up call, especially in the African American, Latino/Hispanic, and substance abuse communities in the United States of America. Since then, there are 18 special days in the United States based on race, gender, sexuality, religion and many other areas of HIV/AIDS. This petition is to bring America together in unity to make sure that everyone will know about World AIDS and HIV/AIDS will not be a disease to split up in 18 different days. November is month of Thanksgiving with family and friends. But during its 32 year history, it can be one of the most hardest and lonely times. Remembering those infected and affected and the 1.2 million lives we have lost due to complications of AIDS. Let's sign the petition for an immediate response from President Obama, Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sabis, the US Congress both House and Senate, and the National Office of AIDS Policy in the West Wing. We thank each of you for your support. This is not a petion to downsize the 18 days but bringing everyone together in one dedicated day leading up to World AIDS Day, December 1st. May God bless you and may God bless the United States of America
