Name: Aida Maher on Dec 18, 2007Comments: My OB was pretty clear on the fact that I was a risky VBAC candidate because my baby was measuring "large". He was on leave at the time of my delivery and I had another OB who was very supportive of my decision. I went on to have a successful VBAC with my 8lb12oz baby girl. I am just appalled at the thought of an outright ban on the natural way to give birth.Flag

Name: Sherrie Opitz on Dec 24, 2007Comments: I agree with the above, and childbirth is a natural body process and is also an amazing life process as well. I think all attempts to help women have natural deliveries- even after cesareans should be made when possible. Vaginal childbirth offers amazing opportunities for mothers and infants alike, and for their new futures together. It is evidenced based practice we are looking for! With cesarean rates climbing it is especially important to not take birth choices away. Medicine is litigious in nature, but its our job to support evidence based practice! And... if it is such a problem, why aren't we working ACTIVELY to lower the cesearean ratesFlag

Name: Diane Anderson on Dec 26, 2007Comments: I had four C-sections, and it was the right choice for me. I tried to do VBAC with my second, but my body just wouldn't progress at all. It was absolutely my preference to at least attempt a VBAC, though. Every woman should have that choice, and if after consulting with the doctor it isn't advisable, then so be it. I think a "ban" on VBAC is short-sighted and potentially dangerous to women and their babies. Every situation is different!Flag

Name: Dawn Anderson on Dec 26, 2007Comments: As a mother who had a VBAC with absolutely no complications at St. Petes, I wholeheartedly disagree with the hospitals decision to ban VBACs. Personally I feel my caesarian birth was unnecessary and was due to timeframes set by a medical institution and not the human body. I cried for days after my c-section wondering why my body had failed me. Conversely after my VBAC I left the hospital in 24 hours happy and fulfilled with a beautiful, completely natural (and drug-free) birth. Please do not force women to have unnecessary surgery!Flag
