We might have differing views on sexuality; whether being gay is nature or nurture, allow gay marriages or unions and about sexuality in general but what most of us agree on is that a sane view and discussion about this issue is important. In Uganda, a bill that is still under consideration is seeks to make homosexuality a crime punishable by death and in Kenya the prime minister Raila Odinga has ordered the arrest of gay couples. In Africa violence against those brave enough to express their sexuality is on the rise and the governments most churches and mosques are behind this. This petition is not about the validity of any side's view but a call for a sober discussion in Kenya and Africa as a whole. If you live in the Americas, Europe, Australia or Asia your government is sending billions of your money to countries like Kenya in aid. This money is used to shore up the governments operations which includes violence against gays and lesbians. It is baffling that minorities are being targeted yet most governments like the USA's and United Kingdom's are mum. Call your representatives and ask them to impress upon their counterparts in countries like Kenya the importance of sanity in this subject. Think about it, what if this was Kenya or Uganda and your friends or family members who are gay were facing death or prison time for being true themselves.
