Name: David Durovy on Feb 1, 2013Comments: As a resident of the Providence neighborhood in close proximity to the BTS site, I continue to strongly oppose this settlement and ask that the Commissioners not allow more waste to be brought into our community. The future viability of projects such as River Line development depend upon our elected officials taking a stand to support a livable and desirable community.Flag

Name: Dale R. Guy on Feb 1, 2013Comments: Our homeowners property values are already the lowest in the county thanks to the other main transfer station along with other "ghetto like" housing rentals and/or developments within South Cobb. I've lived in South Cobb longer than any place since my birth in 1960. I will have resided at my current residence located at 480 Nickajack Road SW, Mableton, GA 30126 since May 1990 (soon will be 23 years). The last decade South Cobb has seen declination on property values...some of the lowest in the USA. Along with the Mableton Improvement project...we, Homeowners, were hopeful of redeveloping the Old Mableton and changing the name of Bankhead Highway to Veterans Memorial Highway...again, another venture that was left unfulfilled the county did nothing to improve the Bankhead corridor. Now we continue to see more declination if the Cobb Commissioners approve another trash transfer station. It is evident, South Cobb is the dumping ground and/or County Leaders have no care about South Cobb to allow this dumping stations be placed on dockets and agendas for reconsideration.Flag

Name: Lallie J. Hayes on Feb 1, 2013Comments: The applicant might call itself a "Waste Transfer Station"; I call it a dump, with all the negative connotations and consequences that term implies: dirt, noise, vermin, health hazards, groundwater contamination, and more stigmatization of south Cobb/Mableton as the trashy part of Cobb, figuratively and now literally. Many people in this area have been working hard to make this a desirable area to live; a vote to allow the dump is a slap in the face to those constituents. Commissioners voted this down before; what's happened to change their minds during mediation?Flag

With all of the upgrades through the approved Board of Commissioners Livable Communities Initiative and other positive projects, this trash transfer station does negative damage to these improvements. Name: Corey Bryant on Feb 2, 2013Comments: I can't believe this is even on the table for consideration again! This area of Mableton is a growing community with several families with small children within a mile (in some cases a few thousand feet) of this eyesore! There are also a few small businesses....there could be more who probably hesitate, were it not for the continual threat to turn this area into an industrial area (which it clearly is not). There is no benefit to allowing the trash & all the pollution, rodents and other unwanted traffic to this community other than for selfish capitalistic gain. When i moved here nearly 3 years ago, with a fiancee and a 1month baby in tow we were looking for a budding area where we could raise our child in the safety and comfort of COMMUNITY. You jeopardize that chance for myself, my child, and other families and children in the area. This just CANNOT happen. I'll leave!Flag
