We really do need your help as we are in a battle with a company called Banks Renewables that aim to destroy the Yorkshire Wolds for many residents and visitors. Owning Saxdale House Farm for many years we appreciate all the support from our regular visitors and family and friends. We have been in touch with a small minority and their views have been overwhelming in respect of the fact that this company is going to destroy this part of the Countryside for so many people. Banks have been in touch with three of the wealthiest landowners in this part of the Country, they will receive a minimum of £10,000 per turbine per year, and they are proposing 14 turbines twice the size of York Minster within a distance of 750 metres from the back of Saxdale. The landowners have been requested to attend meetings and up to now they have refused. We attended a meeting with Banks on the 6th of October and ended up walking out of the meeting after we discovered that despite just one of our concerns about noise, they had already placed sound monitoring devices in practically all the properties in the area of sensitivity, BUT OURS. Banks were challenged on our behalf and have now agreed to place monitoring devices on our property. To our surprise one would automatically think that the Yorkshire Wolds was already protected as an area of outstanding natural beauty, but unfortunately all the Wolds are not. We are asking you to look into your hearts and assist us in gaining the statement from the Government to protect all of the WOLDS WAY. We need 5000 signatures on our attached petition to get the proposal into Parliament to get the protection we need for our Countryside. We have already got in excess of 1000 There has been a lot of media attention recently with coverage on Calendar news who visited Saxdale. We have support from some Government ministers and also some European Ministers; they have seen the views from Saxdale and think the idea of a wind farm here is scandalous. We had lunch last week at the Country Park in Filey whilst taking in the fantastic views from there, as we looked towards Saxdale from that vantage point we realised that they would even dominate the view from there, as you can already see the small domestic turbines which are miniscule in comparison. Jonathan and I and many concerned residents in the area are begging for your help. Banks renewables are not even slightly concerned to the fact that if this project goes ahead our business is finished, and on top of that the value of our home will depreciate by up to 40%, something else that they have denied. They have stated quite categorically that there will be no compensation. Jonathan and I are in favour of Renewable energy and saving our planet, we have the view that we live on an Island and have guaranteed tides we should have invested in tidal power and not Wind power that does not work and are actually driving up the cost of our electricity. If you do have any doubts we urge you to go on the internet and look up to NO TO WOLDS WIND FARM, on this web page there is a speech from an expert, it is called the RAPE OF BRITAIN. Don’t be surprised if after watching this expert you feel quite upset. Scarborough Borough Council needs to be aware of the damage to the tourist industry in this area. The knock on effect of our business closing and some others just on Bartindale Road will be devastating to the local economy. The damage to all the tourist attractions and local businesses in the area that benefit from the up turn in income once the tourist season begins. Tourism rose by 40% this year from last which helped employment and local business. We can not afford to let these greedy landowners and cut throat companies in the dash for cash as we are sure that if the Government stopped the subsidies they would just go away. Help us please before the damage has been done. Collect as many signatures as you possible can to protect the Countryside from this attack and stop any further ones. Banks Renewables will be putting planning applications in for the turbines at the beginning of 2012; we have the time to stand up to these opportunists. If you feel as passionately about this part of the Country as we do and appreciate the peace, beauty and tranquillity of the Wolds. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to anyone who is prepared to assist us in our plight. Grateful thanks
