To the Celtic Board and Celtic Family, We, the below signed, call on the Celtic Board and all those currently or historically associated with Celtic Football Club, to desist from using the term "Old Firm". The board and those who comment on issues relating to Celtic by using this tag seem oblivious to the fans thoughts on this matter. Over the years Celtic and Rangers have clearly shown that they are on opposite ends of the spectrum on all major issues of the day from immigration, to politics, to history, through to the reputation of each set of fans. We, the Celtic supporters, who with the steady hand of Fergus McCann, dragged this club out of near bankruptcy, reject being associated with a team that we have no affinity with. The lazy use of the term gives the impression that the two clubs are somewhat similar, that we are different sides of the same coin, that we are in some way linked by a shared history. This is not the case. We also call on the Celtic Board and those associated with Celtic Football Club, not only to sign this petition but to make a public statement that they reject the term and wish it to be removed from use by all media and commentators. In essence, we call on the Board to refuse to answer any questions from, or provide any assistance to, any media outlet or commentators that uses this outdated and misleading term. We donâ
