AnonymousThis type of establishment should not be in the High Street area especially as the council maintain they want to make Southend a "family orientated" town. There are similar places in the seafront area if we have to have such a place put it there.

AnonymousFor Gods sake - we need more family entertainment in Southend - not more sleaze.
AnonymousSouthend has been trying to get back on the map as a great place to visit and having a place like hooters will just take Southend back to the rubbish dump. I have always lived in Southend and love it we do not want or need a tacky bar that will attract all the dirty people to our great town. Its bad enough that girls wear next to nothing at the nightclubs which makes them easy prey for the filthy men so there is no need to encourage more of these men by having waitress's dressed in very little!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW THIS BAR TO RUIN SOUTHEND

Tracey GreenI feel very strongly that Hooters must not open here in Southend, where the location is is a very public area with lots of families passing by. Lets not get too 'Americanised' and forget that people come before money.
Alison GibbonsThis will really take Sheffield down market. The city is supposed to be regenerating itself - Hooters is not the public image the city needs

Susannah LarkinsI am a resident and am completely opposed to Hooters opening anywhere in this town. The proposed site is also just nearby Sainsburys, so a lot of women and children will be forced to see this establishment. I hope the other nearby restuarants, some encouraging families, oppose this chain opening as well. If the petitioner has access to my email, please contact me.
Beverly BigunsI think Hooters is a fantastic idea, not only would it give Southend's large population of single mothers the opportunity to get back into the work place, it would also be the perfect way to distract our millions of day trippers from the embarrassement of our seafront slowly subsiding into the Thames, well done Southend Council.

Hannah McFaullI am so disappointed by the proposal to put a Hooters bar so close to where I take my family and young children. Regardless of some of the arguments made in the above petition, it is up to the residents of Southend and take a stand against this becoming a sad reality.
AnonymousI think we have enough entertainment venues in Southend and I think we should be trying to improve the reputation of the area not make it even worse. If men want to see womens parading around in small outfits I think they should go to a strip club instead.

Victoria WilliamsI live in Basildon, and I frankly still feel tainted knowing that such a tacky, exploitative monstrosity could be built within the same county as me, let alone within reasonable driving distance. Yuck!

AnonymousA seedy pub is the last thing Southend needs right now. I am concerned that it is going to be near the College, where impressionable young people may be affected by it.

AnonymousI am still a teeneager and have experienced many wholf whistles etc and threee times physical contact. I do not dress provokingly and I know how awful it feels. This demeaning restaurant is simply encouraging this sorrt of behavouir. If we allow this to happen it will soon become normal and acceptable for men to disrespect women, This is a large step backwards in society.
Bryony Purcell-CleeterWomen are pressured enough to look a certain way without this being thrust in their faces. It was difficult enough being a teenager without having to grow up in a country with places like this. I wouldn't want to live near one.
AnonymousI object to this, the world is already heading to far towards putting naked woman to the forefront of peoples minds. Children growing up now are exposed to sex and nudity at every avenue and this is another barrier that will be broken opening the flood gates to who knows what I am a 28 year old male ! Not everyone wants this !!!

AnonymousIsnt there enough sex on the tv and in news papers/magazines lets get back to respect and leave it out of the food chains.
AnonymousI say no to any idea's like this to do with women, there's already to much of this about women and we know it from all the documentaries and news we watch about this sort of thing
