| 53 | Anonymous | We don't want or need this kind of place here. Drunken groups of men will cause nothing but trouble. Women nearby will feel unsafe.Other restaurants will suffer.

| 54 | Tracie Winch | This is demeaning to women they should not be allowed , children should not exposed to this kind of restaurant. |
| 55 | Mandy Harris | This is yet another establishment that makes girls/women feel inferior. Who wants to go to a restaurant with their boyfriend/husband with half naked women walking around. Ok you say...dont go there. But why have them at all. I have seen so many young people argue and fight these days due to jealousy caused by such places that exploit women...including many boys mags and so called newspapers. I notice a lot of men can't see the problem Their opinions would probably change if they had naked men on page 3 or half naked men too in Hooters. I am sure men would not be too keen then. I am sick of the argument that women choose to. Of course there will always be women that would do anything for money. It is saying that women are just there for men to stare at, why else are they wearing such little clothing! Please do not let this open up and fuel more rages between couples. Where is the respect for women. Of course there is women that will work there, there always will be but why is it necessary that they wear so little clothing. Can there not be fun or enjoyment in this day and age without sex being involved. I feel so sorry for the young girls of today growing up in this environment where women's bodies are displayed all the time everywhere you look. The mystery is disappearing fast and respect for women in non existent. |
| 56 | Anonymous | I am definately against this!! If such women want to exploit themselves in this way they should be working for some sort of escort agency not in a family area like Southend. So many women will feel insecure about themselves having this put right on their doorstep. Its clearly a dining place for men not the whole family and i know many people who will disown the area. |

| 58 | Francine Hoenderkamp | I am appalled to hear that in my local town of Southend on Sea in Essex, UK there is an Hooters opening up. Now please tell me? Do you think these sort of establisments have ANYTHING to do with the war on women we see every time we turn on our TV's or open our daily newspapers? I.e whether that be another woman being raped? Or another little girl being kidnapped? Or another woman being forced into a marraige when she is only 13?
Please fully explain to me how these sorts of establishments sit comfortably in out society when this is going on on a MASSIVE scale on a daily basis? I.e why is it important to open a bar such as 'Hooters' when we are at war with women and other such atrocities such as terrorism etc. in our society?
Is this a difficult question to you maybe? I hope it is one that you can answer?

| 62 | Anonymous | i work on the opposite side of the road and object to this restaurant on this site |
| 63 | elaine yeates | I object to Hooters opening the restaurant in Southend. This type of buisiness just degrades women and is not the sort of thing required here.It is hard enough for the Police now dealing with the night club violence that erupts, a Hooters will make Southend even more dangerous for DECENT people. |

| 68 | Anonymous | It would be right near the odean cinema where many children go and wait along there to be picked up after by there parents. Its also near the top of the high street where many children hang about. The position is all wrong. It should not be aloud there. it is also in a part where many families go out for meals. I would not wish to sit opposite a place like that and eat a nice meal, and i'm sure many will avoid the establishments that are already there. NOT THERE PLEASE. |
| 69 | Anonymous | What girl would want to have a meal at hooters with there boyfriend? unless he had a death wish.... |
| 70 | Anonymous | I thought that the redevelopments going on in Southend were supposed to regenerate the place and help it lose its cheap image. How will the addition of Hooter contribute to this?! All it will do is attract druken chavs and alienate all women and any decent men from the area. |
| 71 | Anonymous | This is awful. Children, young families as well as women yound and old walk around this busy area next to family resturants, the cinema shops and supermarket, what sort of impression will this give? It will attract large groups of men that will intimidate others. We need to improve Southend for all, not drag it down. |
| 72 | Anonymous | Princes Street
We do not need this sort of restaurant in the town. It is degrading to women and the kind of people that it will attract we dont want them in town either. |
| 73 | Anonymous | this is the last thing our town needs, we are a family resort, the last thing we need is more males coming into the town drinking excessively and then walking the lenght of the high street, this will cause more violent crimes, i hope the council have factored in how much the increase in criminal damage and policing will cost |

| 78 | Emma Wynne-Morgan | I feel that is extremely inappropriate for this type of venue to open in Southend and am at a loss
that the Council have allowed a licence for this type of venue. |

| 81 | Anonymous | Come on. Do we really need another cheap place like this in Essex? We have clubs and pubs and drunks tripping over themselves into the early hours. next a hooters bar? Nice family entertainment - NOT! |
| 82 | Anonymous | As a young female Southend resident I am appalled that opening a venue like this is even being considered. |
| 83 | sheena walker | We just don't want this type of dowmarket venture in Southend which represents all that this town needs to rid itself of. |

| 88 | Anonymous | As someone who lived in the area for many years close to where the Hooters business is proposed I am vehemently opposed to this proposal.
Lets try and keep this part of the town a child friendly enviroment. |
| 89 | Anonymous | We don't need this in Southend |
| 90 | Adam J Cann | The proposed Hooters branch in Southend is NOT a good idea. The ‘restaurant’ is inappropriately placed and would do far more to compromise the area’s economy than to enrich it. It is a tribute to the typical American style of unethical business practice that is the result of globalising at all costs and even though i agree with the free market, this is a step too far. |
| 91 | Emma, Rochford (student at SEEC) | This is a ridiculous idea for a place like southend. Especially so near to where families go in the evening |

| 97 | Anonymous | I object to a restaurant of the type proposed by Hooters for Southend and hope that the licence is refused. We need to open establishments which are suitable for families and decent folk not which cater for the lower common denominator. |
| 98 | Anonymous | We need good decent shops in the hight street we dont need yet another resturant and certianlly not one like that, Southen Couincil play on the family town think well i dont think this come into it...we would like a good shop and not another 99p shop and difinatly not a lap dancing resturant get a grip Southend Council and give us shops that we really want... |
