We do not want another supermarket in Bude. If Tesco has planning permission to build, this will have a detrimental effect on the fabric and integrity of Bude as a diverse and vibrant sea side town. Bude already has 3 large supermarkets and many family owned shops. A Tesco situated opposite Morrison's would encourage yet more shoppers out of Bude, should they ever venture in past Tesco. Bude town's trade would be damaged throughout the Summer and would die during the winter. Shops would be closed down, livelihoods lost and character destroyed. We do not want to become yet another dying and characterless town being cut down in the face of Tesco's quest to swallow up all before them. Bude must not become a victim of Tesco's greed and aggression. The people of Bude have fought monumental battles to remain a unique and special place, both to live and to visit. Bude Sea Pool is one such attraction which has been rescued from obscurity by the people, we do not intend to have our livelihoods and hard work destroyed in this way. As residents, traders, holiday makers and decent people we do not want Tesco in Bude.
