Name: Trevor Truitt on Feb 26, 2007Comments: While I believe that testing of chemicals (though probably overpriced) could be of benefit to our industry, testing of extractors is a joke. I seriously doubt that any tm on the market today, or in the last twenty years, would fail to meet reasonable testing criteria. This SOA for truckmounts only adds to the expense of owning a CC business.Flag

Name: Scott Rogers on Feb 27, 2007Comments: Requiring a fee to test equipment is a scam and a direct attack on small business and the independent carpet cleaner. Even if a manufacturer pays the initial fee to certify their equipment then in 2 years decides not to renew that model due to newer models on the market we would then be out of compliance. That is ridicules. None approved machines even with the same or superior components would have 0 resale value. Set guidelines for equipment components and test chemicalsFlag

Name: James Cooper on Feb 27, 2007Comments: this whole endevour ( SOA ) is fueled by greed . Labs created by cri members for the purpose of testing , cri member mills adopting SOA for the purpose of curtailing warrentee claims , all in order to extract money from all levels of the cleaning industry ( the manufacturers , the cleaners , the suppliers ). Seems to me the priority would by to clean up thier own act , form installation standards that are actually enforced , to proper sales training , to actually producing product that performs so well that the warrentees are actually worth something . Name: John Tuseo on Feb 27, 2007Comments: All I can say about this program is this " A Rug Doctor Carpet Cleaning Extractor can be rented at a grocery store is an approved machine, but many truck mounts arent" thats a joke. I would love to have a hidden camera and go into one of the SOA big wigs homes and offer them either a Rug Doctor cleaning or a un approved truckmount cleaning and then everyone would find out the truth.Flag

Name: Kevin Brenny on Mar 9, 2007Comments: If I am certified and use certified chemicals, but my equipment is not certified then maintaining my IICRC certification is pointless. I will not pay any IICRC dues ever again unless the IICRC stands up for our rights and gets "out of bed" with the CRI. If everyone would take this stand with the IICRC they would be quick to react and help us out. Remember if there werent any independant carpet cleaners paying dues to the IICRC they would not exist. I support an inspection of equipment at a local level to verify a machine meets certain performance criteria ever 1 or two years. Lining the pockets of the CRI and their test labs so they can turn around and approve the Rug Doctor! What use is the IICRC certification to me if I have to buy a new machine to clean carpet and retain it's warrantyFlag
