We get a holiday on Presidents Day, we get a holiday for religious holidays, we even get a day off for our veterans. The lives lost on September 11th go remembered every year, but not honored. Sure, most places have a moment of silence in remembrance of the events which took place, but that is all.

Updates

August 8, 2007

I was looking at the calendar earlier and it really hits me how strange it is that we just carry on like a normal Tuesday instead of pausing to actually think about everything that happened. Some people reached out to tell me their own stories about back then which makes this feel so much more real than just typing on a screen.

The school board needs to wake up! This should have been a mandatory day off years ago.

YES. give the kids the day to learn the real history and pay respects.

Way overdue. Kids should be home with family reflecting on what happened instead of sitting in a classroom like it is just another boring thursday.

Never forget. Why is this still even a debate?

My kids dont even get taught enough about it in school anyway. A day off would actually help us focus on what this day means for our country.

Its disrespectful to carry on with business as usual when we lost so many. We need to honor them properly.
