Northern Uganda: break the silence

A pledge to help to resolve the conflict
in Northern Uganda.

We call upon Her Majesty’s Government to end the silence of the international community on the conflict in Northern Uganda by promoting dialogue and by committing its resources to use diplomatic and other means to end 17 years of civil war, in which the Lord’s Resistance Army use child soldiers to kidnap, rape and torture the people of the region.

John - a typical story
John has a typical story among children abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army: as punishment for trying to escape, he was forced to kill his own younger brother.

Now thousands of children have been coming into the towns of Kitgum and Gulu to sleep on the streets at night because they feel safer than in their villages.
