September 2010 MPs voted for the first time on the  war in Afghanistan. Northampton North MP Michael Ellis voted to support the continued deployment of UK armed forces in Afghanistan. When asked why he said "My views are informed by listening to the people of Northampton North and that must include the vast silent majority". Over 70% of the British public say the war is unwinnable and the troops should come home.

Did Michael Ellis ask the people of Northampton North how they would like him to vote? Did he ask you? Some facts about the war

1.The war in Afghanistan has entered its tenth year, longer than World War I and World War II combined. 2.David Cameron says British troops will be in Afghanistan at least another five years. 3. Countless tens of thousands of Afghan civilians have been killed since 2001, with 2010 the worst year yet. 4. 2142 Nato troops have been killed, including 340 from Britain, with 2010 the worst year yet. 5. Deaths of British soldiers killed in Afghanistan will soon reach twice the number killed in the Iraq war. 6. The government is spending £5bn a year on the war in Afghanistan, while cutting universal child benefits to save £1bn a year and cutting housing benefit to the poor to save £1.8bn a year.

Michael Ellis works for us! Tell him we want the troops to come home NOW
