Many of our fans and supporters have asked why we do not have a space in the new construction of the Nordic Heritage Museum and wanted a way to let the museum know what a great idea it would be. This petition has been created as a way for our supporters to have a voice on this topic.

The Norwegian American is a huge piece of Nordic history, so important that the new construction of the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle had original blueprints that included a space for the newspaper to continue its historical work from. Unfortunately, it now seems that the newspaper is no longer included in the museums designs. This petition is to encourage the museum to reconsider having the newspaper as a permanent resident at the newly constructed museum. This would be a great way for a visitor to the museum to witness the living history of Nordic culture as it happens. We truly believe that a union between the museum and the newspaper would help create cohesion within the community and help preserve Nordic history.

The Norwegian American is the continuation of the over 500 Norwegian newspapers that once existed in America, including the Western Viking of Seattle, Wash., and it has been published continuously since 1889. We are a newspaper in the United States and Canada that is dedicated to serve the Nordic community. Our goal is to connect and preserve the Nordic culture and we need the help of everyone to stand together as a community so that we can have our voices heard.

Please help the Norwegian American newspaper by signing this petition. I encourage you to voice how important the Norwegian American is to you and that giving the newspaper a permanent home at the museum would strengthen Nordic culture in American and enrich the overall experience the museum provides.
