Name: Amy E. Smith on Nov 11, 2008Comments: I am a U.S. citizen living in Canada as a result of DOMA and U.S. Immigration law. I was unable to sponsor my same sex partner for immigration because I am gay. I was faced with the harsh reality of deciding to make a life with the woman I love or remaining in my home country. As a result my biological daughter has not been allowed to visit my home in almost 3 years because of a court ruling in a small town in the U.S.. No person, gay or straight, should have to make such a horrible decision and further suffer the vulnerability that being unequal under the law inflicts. Your state has an opportunity to be one more place where gays are equal. Every state is a step toward equality on a national level. Please make everyone equal under the law in your state.Flag

Name: John K. Young on Nov 11, 2008Comments: The majority would never accept a limitation on what they regard as their human right to marry. It is an outrage that a civil right should be withdrawn from an entire segment of the population FOR NO RATIONAL REASON. Please work for the overturn of this prejudicial blight and give human rights to the gay citizens and taxpayers of California.Flag
