This election season, every single write-in vote for Oren Bailey for student body president was thrown out. This means that all of those votes were essentially wasted. 

This is no longer about electing me, this is about the principle that every vote counts- a principle which has been violated here. There is nothing to my knowledge that says that a write-in candidate cannot be elected, and I was allowed to run this campaign without any member of the faculty telling me that I could not. In the United States, Ex Post Facto laws are illegal. Indeed, the same principle should apply here- any new rules about write-in candidates created or made explicit after this election should not affect the election. 

Whether you voted for me or another candidate, I think that we can all agree that the silencing of many voters by means of silent rules is inherently wrong and should not be allowed in any election.

I do not wish to cause a major conflict, just to voice my/ our concerns and stand up for what is right.
