| 1420 | Dan Hale | i dont usually bother protesting about films because 99% of the time film makers will go ahead anyway simply due to the movie world today being ruled by the dollar and that there are no NEW ideas of any merrit coming out, hence to prop up the sinking ship and protect the sallaries they have to rehash the classics. in this case though i must agree - NO ROBERT, NO FREDDY! i dont much care if this makes me apperar closed minded, some things should not be played with. unlike michael myers, jason or leatherface its not just some guy with a gripe, its the feel behind it! you can put anyone in the hat and glove but the voice, the posturing, the delivery and dare i say it - the swagger wont be there. when i heard Jackie Earle Haley was cast as the big man i did think it was another joke. the guys a good actor and i guess could have a passing resemblance but unfortunately the fans will likely reject him. its like somebody other than james earl jones voicing darth vader - NO!!!! the studio say robert is too old now, erm guys... THE FANS LOVE HIM AND HES IN MAKE UP FOR CHRISTS SAKE!!!! in a world where we can have giant robots duke it out on screen are you that convinced a bit of CG magic couldnt be included for the high level stuff? christopher lee wasnt young when he had a dule with a CG yoda (infact they used a double and face mapped him to make it work - modern tech boys and girls!) age does not affect make up or the essence of the character. the film wil prob do well (ish) but to me and the many others. it will be an unwanted exercise and ultimately not a nightmere movie because A. the film people DIDNT listen to the fans. B. Freddy wont be in it! (sorry Jackie Earle) |
