| 802 | Tabitha | I am EXTREMELY against this remake.When I found out I almost started crying.This is one movie you don't touch.It's perfect how it is.As for Robert Englund not playing Freddy, in my eyes it's a sin.I've read the interview about him not being able to play the role of freddy in the remake becuase of him being too old.In all honesty I don't think that is the reason at all.I think he is extremely hurt by the fact that he was not the first one to be informed on the remake.He IS freddy, no one else.I really think if they would have talked to him first before anything he would have said yes.But because they ignored it and think that he can be replaced he doesn't want anything to do with it. |

| 841 | Lito | Remaking "A Nightmare on Elm Street" is as bad an idea as the idea of "reinventing" "Halloween" was. Both films are classic, iconic horror films that changed the face of horror at the time of their release and pretty much reinvented the face of fear as we know it. Hollywood needs to start demanding and looking for more creativity rather than simply settling for mediocrity because they know it will be profitable regardless of quality. Yes, Rob Zombie's "Halloween" made money...but, it was a poor film. The same result will come from "reinventing" "A Nightmare on Elm Street". Yes, the remake will probably make money...but, in the end, it will be another hollow, pointless, and forgettable exercise in filmmaking made merely for the sake of padding the bank accounts of lazy studio executives. |

Even friday the 13th sounds like a bad idea except for the fact they are billing it as more of an extra story to go with the 2-4 portion of that series. This will be a complete remake of the original from what I understand which sounds stupid. I feel quite sad that Robert's unable to play NOES, and without RE, no one gives a rotten tomato about the remake. Maybe perhaps I could see Johnny Depp doing it, as he's an oddball kinda like how Robert played Freddy in the first, and he was in the original. I also heard Jake Gyllenhaal was involved... hopefully as a concerned parent or a teenage and not Freddy. |
