First I would like to state that this petition is not to ban Halal meat. It is only to make it legally required that any establishment (Grocery, Restaurant and Fast Food Restaurant) be legally required to also offer Non-Halal food and that all establishments must clearly indicate that they serve Halal food and Non-Halal food. First, Halal meat is not just killed in a particular manner, but when they are killed there is a statement made which includes the name of their god "Allah". Which means the killing in made in the name of their god. This is found under their Sharia Law. For some of us who are not of the Islamic faith, this meat cannot be consumed by us. Not only here in Canada, but in England and other countries non-muslims, who cannot eat halal, are finding it more and more difficult to find meat which is not halal. As well, as I have found out personally, several establishments are serving halal and yet have no sign stating that they are serving the halal meat. Are we to just assume that everyone is now serving or selling halal meat? Please help me and others of a faith other than Islam be able to be treated on the same scale as those of Islam. I would like to be able to go to a grocery store or restaurant and know that after having looked at what I want to buy, that I have to leave with nothing because they serve halal only. It is sneaking Sharia Law into our country without the rest of us having a say and it is wrong. Please sign my petition in order that I may present it to our Legislative body in order for a law to be passed. Thank you.
