S.P.I.R.I.T. (Society to Preserve Indigenous Rights and Indigenous Traditions) was the name the group selected as it as the best fit for our organization by discussion at several meetings. In addition to stated objectives and goals, our group has sponsored events to increase awareness and educate the public about American Indian issues. We are a grassroots organization seeking to expand and grow not only in Oklahoma but also nationwide. We try to hold our meetings at a different location in Oklahoma on a regular basis in attempts to reach all interested parties.
