The Gamespy setup has been a serious mistake, the whole hardcore UT community knows this and I'm sure that Epic in their hearts know it too. Turn around guys and put the game back in the players hands not some fascist company that has no idea about the ultimate FPS multiplayer gaming community that is Unreal. Gamespy will kill the UT series. |

| 119 | BigByte | I was really looking forward to this game and was hoping for some improvements on the already great setup that UT2004 had ,like a great webadmin ,in the style that we admins know with added features . The server browser was perfect in UT2004 and I was so dissapointed when I discovered that Gamespy was being used .I have had this game now since the day it was available and although I run a windows 2003 server ,which runs absolutely fine ,I have hardly played the game online because most of the clans I know use Linux for their servers .Some have bought new servers just for this game .......
I'm not sure if this petition will change anything ,but I check the Epic forums everyday for news of the Linux server and the silence is deafening . |

They wil not loose a big chuck of their user base. They will only loose the PC end user. The console sales of this game are expected to dwarf the PC sales.
You don't need a Linux Distro to run a server for the consoles, you need just another cosole to run the game as a server.
This petition will not change anything. We should be considering a class action for misleading advertising and it's effect on the end consumer in the final purchase. Because clearly Epic have misled us and those are grounds for legal action.
But the plaintiff needs to be a US resident. This can be done, but requires great organisation. |
