According to the FBI's CSD The number of Marijuana arrests as of 2008 totaling 775,138 individuals exceeded all other crimes of unrelated categories combined by 47.5% in the entire continental United States. 89% of the people arrested were consumers leaving the other 11% of the arrests made occupied by farmers/manufacturers. 41% total arrested for additional charges of Criminal Distribution of Illegal Controlled/Substances. Approximately 1/8 of America's population has been caught for the use and or sales of this harmless plant. More today then the years before has it been a heated debate on the adverse affects of Cannabis. Media has tried to paint a grim picture of the use of Marijuana by associating it with statistics of under-aged drinking and driving; that of the fatal accidents recorded, nearly half of the victims had used marijuana before their accident. Truth is; their is more to gain from the legalization of Marijuana. Of the legal Substances/rights to-date where cigarettes were the direct cause has killed roughly more than 400,000 a year. Beer/Alcohol; 85,000. Pharmaceuticals; 43,000. Fire Arms; 29,000... To Date all directly related deaths of Marijuana use; 0.
