Name: Anonymous on May 15, 2006Comments: This area WAS up and coming! It's a shame that the women of this area will now be the sufferers from this lapdancing club. Men seem to look at women as objects anyway so this will just amplify the growing indecent assult/rape incidents. Even if it's just verbal abuse, it is still a horrible thing to have on your doorstep. Correct me if I am wrong but I drink around this area; if I am leaving a club at the same time as this lapdancing club, I (and most women) will be harrased. I hope that a revolt is made soon to this application.Flag

Name: James Hill, Design Museum on May 15, 2006Comments: London Bridge is an attractive family friendly area and it should remain that way. The Design Museum welcomes many children, on both family visits and within Educational groups. The area should remain somewhere where can they can feel safe and secure, and a lap dancing club would undermine that.Flag

Name: Gregory Penny on May 17, 2006Comments: We live just a few yards up the road in Tooley Street and have two young children (both 7 years old). We have lived here for the last 4 years. We had always considered this area to be appropriate to bring up a family but that has changed with the lap dancing club which we can see from our window. We will definitely be affected by the increase in late night rowdiness and anti-social behaviour outside our building. We objected at the planning stage (when Southwark's attitude was that it was a licensing issue) and at the licensing stage to no avail. I hold the Liberal Democrats directly responsible for not protecting our interests and although normally a supporter of theirs it is a pity that they didn't lose control in the recent elections to make them realize the reponsibilty they have to the local voters.Flag

Name: Kate Heather on Jun 19, 2006Comments: Not only would such a club be a terrible detriment to the area but it would also send out a very negative view of women. Southwark is now on the map as a great and interesting place for people to visit, live and work. I believe that such a club will turn people (espcially women and those with children) and investors away from the area. Futhermore, there is already a similar club 2 minutes walk from Tower Bridge (Secrets) so why on earth do we need anotherFlag

Name: Sadiq Merchant on Jun 19, 2006Comments: I do not wish to see this type of organisation operating within my community. I want this area to maintain the wholesome feel that currently makes it such an attractive place for families to settle down and for tourists to visit. I am against the degradation of women that this business and its customers will promote if allowed to operate. I know that the residents of this community would stand united against such morally destructive influences at our doorstep.Flag

Name: Carol Hustler on Jun 19, 2006Comments: As a female resident of Southwark, and soon to be local worker - my employer is re-locating to the Cottons building - I expect to be walking to and from work. This will either entail me walking through the bowels of the train station (often home to beggars and rough sleepers) or via the front door of a lap-dancing club. Neither is appealing or re-assuring to my sense of well-being and safety. I would urge Southwark Council to reconsider it's licencing decision. Thanks Carol HustlerFlag

Name: Anne Heaton on Jun 30, 2006Comments: The introduction of a lap dancing club in the area is completely inappropriate. The London Bridge area has improved markedly over the past few years and this may drag it down to the extent that it will resemble the way the Kings Cross area used to be. As a woman living in the area, I am worried that this will result in an increase in harassment and crime in the area, particularly late in the evening.Flag

Name: Daniel Whittington on Jun 30, 2006Comments: How can Southwark allow a lap dancing club to be opened within spitting distance of a children's theatre Not to mention the many other attractions and open spaces aimed at attracting families. This is so absurd that I can hardly believe it is true. It demonstrates gross incompetence and stupidity. Well done Ken for backing the opposition.Flag

Name: K Thiele on Jul 3, 2006Comments: as mentioned :the area is a major tourist attraction for families and bringing adult entertainment into the area would have a detremental effect on the whole area. it would set a precedent for other unsuitable businesses to open and make the arches and surroundings a dangerous place. there is enough trouble as it is (series of muggings in the weston st area), without having more drunken people posing a hazard.Flag
