Name: Sandra Melville on May 7, 2006Comments: As a local resident who fequently brings my young grandchildren to enjoy the attractive areas around Tooley Street I am shocked at the decision to grant this licence. I believe the Council has failed to use the new Licensing Act to protect the interests of local people and the decision should be reversed.Flag

Name: Kirstine I McMillan on May 8, 2006Comments: I cannot stress strongly enough, my opposition to the proposed opening of a lap dancing/sex club on Tooley Street, a family friendly zone attracting children and adults alike due to the many tourist and eductional attractions on Tooley Street and the riverside walkway. I also oppose this proposed opening as a local resident, family member and female. There is extensive research available showing the increased threat of physical violence to women in areas local to lap dancing/sex clubs as well as antisocial behaviour.Flag

Name: Alison O'Connell on May 8, 2006Comments: I oppose this lap dancing club in SE1 because I will be scared to walk anywhere near Tooley Street after dark, which is my route home from work. The type of people this venue attracts would make this a dangerous place to be. Isn't the idea to make London a safer cityFlag

Name: Anonymous on May 8, 2006Comments: Much time and effort had gone into regenerating the surrounding area. Such a club would be out of character, would create parking difficulties and not appropriate to the other 'family' attractions in the area.Flag

Name: F.Haroon on May 9, 2006Comments: I strongly oppose the opening of this club and will actively participate in the campgain to stop it. I work in Borough and this is my route to and from work every day. As a woman why should i have to deal daily with an unsavoury establishement that changes the whole progressive tone of the area That we should have a lapdancing club in the middle of a neighbourhood that has so much to offer both families and residents is abhorrent. I cannot believe that the council is happy to put a children's theatre and a lapdancing club on the same street! So now the children who are walking to the theatre with their families are expected to nudge past the queues outside the club Shame on Southwark Council!Flag

Name: Anonymous on May 10, 2006Comments: This will be a horrific addition to the centre of an historic, cultural and socially exciting area of London and it's unforgivable that our Council has granted a license to allow this. They should be ashamed of themselves.Flag

Name: Ed Lukins on May 10, 2006Comments: I live in Bermondsey Street and have done for the past 9 years; given all the posative steps that have been taken to clean up and enhance the area these seems a major step backwards. The whole area is now heavily populated with families and this just seems madness from the licencing committe, surely there should have been some consultation.Flag

Name: Deborah Mackenzie on May 11, 2006Comments: This should never have got this far. This must get as much coverage as possible. It is sheer hypocrisy by the Council and the Government in promoting a safe, family environment. These (mostly) American owned companies should have ASBOs slapped on them. The one in Tottenham Court RD invariably has a girl standing outside trying to drum up business.Flag
