I'M A WAPA RATE PAYER AND I CANNOT TAKE ANOTHER RATE INCREASE! Over the past year, WAPA has increased the L.E.A.C rate to the point that it is causing extreme financial hardship on businesses and homeowners. Alex Moorhead (Vice-President of HOVENSA), has stated that the main problem leading to the high rate of power in the Virgin Islands is the source of fuel - oil. Since WAPA uses oil, instead of coal (for example), our cost for energy creation is EIGHT TIMES what it could be. WAPA is seeking proposals for alternative energy providers that will lower rates in the long-run. Until this happens, we will STILL be faced with increased energy costs that we simply cannot bear. By signing this petition, I am requesting a freeze on any increases in the Water and Power Authority L.E.A.C rate for the next 365 days (beginning September 30, 2008).
