Comments: It is appalling to have a school named after Forrest. How can we teach children tolerance if community leaders support racism Education is the cure of ignorance. I encourage DCSB to set an example to the community by changing the name of this school and demonstrating that prejudice and intolerance have no place in our State.

Comments: People who have contributed to raising the quality of life for all people, who have struggled for the human rights of all people should be the people that our children are taught to respect, emulate and attend schools named after.

Comments: It is time for the Jacksonville and the Duval County school system to move beyond 1950s era resistance to civil rights legislation and re-name this school. A major city which with over one-third of its citizens sharing African-American heritage should not accept a public school named after a man with such a history.

Comments: This is what we have to be proud of It seems to me that when we speak of "America History," we speak of stripping people of their culture, denying people of their rights and fighting pointless wars that only help to kill people who look just like the people fighting them...the very people getting killed in the war on our very own streets. And then we name places of learning after racists, merely because it's a part of "our" history This is what we have to be proud of...

Comments: Nathan B. Forrest no longer lives. But his racist spirit is still alive a well in people like him today. The sad thing is that they are bringing their own kids up with the same evil and damned spirit. Unless society as a whole...all people...all races.. stop this curse on society....there will no peace. We should not only change the name of this school. But explain to the youth at all the the public schools that this is the first step to change something that went terribly bad in the past. And to they should treat others as they want to be treated. Accept differences in others. After all, God made all of us in His image and likeness as the Bible says. And know that variety is the spice of like :).
