Comments: Move them, don't kill them, it is expensive and it is cruel. It is also environmentally irresponsible to dump toxic chemicals into their habitat most expecially when they can simply be relocated for much less.

Comments: Please find let the ducks be rescued and taken to another place to live... Killing is not the answer..The muscovies do more good than harm.. They eat mosquitos, rodents and other bugs etc... You are wasting money when others have offered to help... How can you sleep at night..

Comments: Some people may not care for ducks, but they are living creatures deserving of compassion. I ask the people of Ocala to please reconsider the decision to euthanize the Muscovies. There are animal groups willing to re-home these birds, they are not unwanted by all, but only by a vocal few. I myself have raised Muscovies for years in South Florida, and have found them to be very intelligent and useful creatures, with plenty of natural predators. Thank you for your consideration.

Comments: This is terrible, to take away the lives of innocent creatures. This is highly inhumane and has to stop. Muscovies do not deserve this treatment, they are the sweetest and most gentle birds.

Comments: This is an outrage, that they cannot find a better way of dealing with these ducks, There are probably people who would adopt them if they were put up for adoption. Florida was my birth state, I am ashamed to say so now.

Comments: This is not the solution. Folks until youhave a good management practice in place this will keep happening. Contact us for help with that if youd like.. Meanwhile .. the birds are feral and harmful to the environment they live in.. no Doubt.. However, there are better ways , more cost effective ways to deal with this... and IF the birds have to be killed then at least use them as a food source for pantries or even for any of the MANY Florida Big cat rescues or other wildlife rescues in need of food for the animals they rescue. I would ask other options be considered to this and please contact us, we have a lot of experience in this area.

Comments: I operate the Mt. Holly Duck Sanctuary for 6 years and have always had some muscovys. They love bugs and so my yard is free of them, they do not produce waste any more than many domestic breeds and seldom bother people. This duck breed needs protecting.

Comments: Ok sure, they are an invasive species and i agree they need to be irradicated to help or fragile ecosystems, but gassing them is waisting OUR money and is cruel and painful. Atleast quarentine the ducks and then give them to soup kitchens or to the needy for food! PUT THEM TO USE.

Comments: We had pleanty of ducks in South Florida, we enjoyed them in the parks and no one ever suggessted killing them. But people in charge there wee civilized. The crruelty here is disgusting. I was warned before I came here that I would not like it. The disgusting low lifes running things will not be satisfied untill there is no tree standing and no animal living. I dislike it so much that I am considering sellin my home(one more on the market) and returning to civilization.

Comments: Muscovy Ducks are the most maligned, persecuted animals on G-d's green Earth! They do an amazing service and people just take them for granted. They eat their weight in bugs daily. They eat many HARMFUL insects, like those found under picnic tables and playground equipment. They eat Black Widow spiders, Brown Reclouse spiders, scorpians, mosquitoes, and tons of bugs that destroy lawns! Do you really want to spit in mother Natures' eye? Muscovy Ducks (aka Mosquito Ducks) MAY just be protecting YOUR child from a life threatening poisonous insect bite! Muscovies just MAY be protecting YOU from a disease carrying mosquito bite ! These highly personable and intelligent animals just might be trying to teach you a lesson sent from G-d. Good Karma goes a long way. Have a heart?!

Comments: This is a tough subject, but: 1. Killing them without erecting "no feeding" signs is amoral and wrong. 2. Putting out a non-target-specific sedative that could end up in the mouths of other animals may not be best, therefore rendering the meat bad for wildlife parks that have animals that could consume them. 3. Ovocontrol should be contacted to see if their birth control would work on them. It is used on other birds and would be cheaper. 4. Egg work and birth control, along with farm adoption is better than re-shooting your city in the foot each year.

Comments: It costs more money to kill the ducks than to move them. There are so many other options that do not involve cruelty. The ducks could be moved to a zoo Universal studios in Orlando has a bunch of ducks there are many people that would love to buy a duck myself included. There is no justifiable reason to kill these ducks when there are so many other options. If money is the issue which it does not appear to be since killing them costs more than moving them but if it is there are many people myself included that would be willing to donate the money it would cost to move them. Please consider alternative solutions.
