| 654 | Yen Baynes | There are many needs in this community. The sense of safety, better education, better job prospects for our youth, more support for working families, the list goes on.. Putting a jail in our neighborhood would undermine all of those needs, the entire community would be burdened further by a lower sense of respect and even less pride in where we live. We need more community supports, not a jail. I am absolutely opposed to this jail and will vote accordingly in every election to come. Using our community as a site in which to incarcerate criminals is a huge disrespect to all of us. Why not put the jail in Magnolia or Queen Anne or Capitol Hill? BECAUSE THE PEOPLE THERE WOULD NOT LET YOU. Well, we will not let you put it here either. |

| 658 | Sean | I find it surprising that anyone is even considering siting a jail in a neighborhood such as Highland Park. This neighborhood has tremendous potential that is actually beginning to be realized thanks to dedication and action of its residents. Should the decision be made to build a jail in or even near this neighborhood would show the blatant indifference officials have toward the people they are supposed to be serving. |

| 667 | Thomas Ayele | A jail does not belong in highland park. I have a 14yr old niece that lives in our home and I would feel very uncomfortable with a institutional criminal influence so close. I understand that criminals must be punished via incarceration but innocent families should not have to bear the negative effects. I would strongly suggest that the city consider moving the facility further south on West Marginal Way further in a more desolate location far from family communities. |
