We, the supporters of Senator Barack Obama, would like to, via this petition, express that we do not want Hillary Rodham Clinton to be considered as an option for the Vice President position should Barack Obama become the nominee of the Democratic Party in the presidential election this year. We feel that having Mrs. Clinton is not aligned with Senator Obama's message of Change and Hope for America. As posted in CNN.com, Mrs. Clinton is "one of the most divisive politicians in America." We can not continue to be divided. So many issues are facing us - the bleek economy, 2 wars, need for a reformed healthcare system, taking care of our soldiers, bringing them home and deserved care for our veterans, ensuring housing and education are affordable and within all Americans' means, a dedication to saving our planet. We have the "urgency of now" to address poverty, start healing our international image and relationships, to regain the energy and empowerment of Americans. We respect Mrs. Clinton's role in the Democratic Party but we, as a nation, are ready to move beyond divisiveness and into a new generation of politics - a politics which includes the active participation of all Americans from the bottom up regardless of their party, sex, race, or gender. The VP position is one to be held with much esteem and is the right hand person of the President. Old politics and old tactics no longer belong or have a place in the White House. We need to be more inclusive than exclusive, more willing to reach across the aisle to get things done for all Americans. Americans have waited a long time for a new politics. America is ready for a rebirth. We have earned this nomination instead of feeling we are entitled to it. We, the American people, are ready for a new America without Mrs. Clinton as a potential VP.
