WE DONT WANT ANY CHANGE!!!! WE PAY OUR COUNCIL TAX THAT COVERS COLLECTIONS OF OUR BINS!!!! The following is what East Lindsey are deciding............

CHARGES for the collection of green waste could be implemented in East Lindsey from next year. East Lindsey District Council is currently consulting with the public on the future of the green waste collections such as grass cuttings and gardening waste. Currently the service is free just like other waste collections. Green waste is collected every fortnight from March to the end of the Autumn. According to the online consultation on the district council's website, the council is asking for opinions on whether there should be a separate charge for green waste collection from 2014, based on £1.25 per bin collection – £22.50 for the full 18 collection season. The council is also asking people whether they would opt-in to this service by paying the extra charge or whether they would opt-out by home composting or taking their waste to a household waste recycling facility instead. A council spokesman said: "Like families and businesses, East Lindsey District Council faces significant financial challenges due to reduced Government funding and cost pressures associated with providing services, such as waste collections, which cost £55 per household per year. "In 2014/15, the council needs to save a further £2m in running costs to be able to set a balanced budget, as is legally required. "Despite the pressures financially, the district council maintains the lowest council tax in Lincolnshire and one of the lowest in the country at £1.75 a week for most homes." Other district councils in Lincolnshire are also considering implementing charges on green waste. East Lindsey's leader, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, said: "We're keen to understand the views of local people in relation to the green waste service as part of this consultation and we'd like as many people as possible to respond. The alternative options provide the opportunity for the community to take a view on the service and to inform the thinking of councillors." The consultation runs until April 30 and can be found at www.e-lindsey.gov.uk/consultation. People can also go to their local customer service centre or leisure centre to have their say.
