After meetings with the Director of Food Services at the District, we took the plunge and took the campaign to the School Board on Thursday night. Nerve-wracking, but we felt we weren't really getting anywhere, we are passionate about improving school food and this seemed perfect timing.LAUSD had just last week voted to get rid of it. What a momentous decision. 630,000 children will potentially be better off, not being tempted by this sugary treat food at school.A team of 5 of us presented to the Board, 3 parents and 2 students. I was so proud of the way our students spoke-their delivery was heartfelt and the Board were visibly moved by what they had to say.This issue is now formally on the agenda for July 20th and we must get as many signatures as possible. It was a great day, and felt like a very exciting moment in our campaign!Please send this petition on to ANYONE you know who may be affected by it-SMMUSD students/parents/teachers and residents....
