we actually did it and the school board voted to pull flavored milk from the lunch menu. i am so happy we stood our ground on this one and kept the extra sugar out of our kids school meals. thanks for sticking with me until the finish line.

Debemos dejar de ofrecer leche de sabores en las escuelas de SMMUSD como hizo LAUSD!
· El 14 de junio de 2011, el LAUSD votó a favor de retirar leche de sabores de las cafeterías de la escuela.
· Cada carton de 8 onzas de leche de sabores (leche sabor fresa o leche sabor chocolate) contiene 4 cucharaditas más de azúcar que la leche normal.
· Las escuelas deben servir comidas nutritivas, y dejar a las familias que decidan si sus hijos comen dulces.
· Muchos niños en SMMUSD consumen leche de sabores en la escuela todos los días, para el desayuno y también el almuerzo.
Por favor, firmen esta petición para ayudar a eliminar la leche de sabores de las cafeterías escolares de Santa Mónica/Malibu!

we just hit 500 signatures and i am honestly blown away. its crazy to see so many people getting behind this to get that extra sugar out of our schools.

im still reading through all the stories people are leaving in the comments and it just confirms why we need this change. reached out to the school board again this morning and im waiting to see if anyone actually gets back to me.

its basically soda at this point. why are we teaching kids to drink sugar?
TOTAL B.S. that they still serve this stuff. stop poisoning the kids just because they like the taste. do better smmusd.
7 teaspoons of sugar in one milk box is insane. my kids dont need that much sugar in the middle of the school day!
The cafeteria food is already questionable at best, we dont need extra junk on the menu for them to choose.
too much sugar! let them drink water or plain milk
