Name: Jackie Callow on Sep 24, 2011Comments: I am utterly appalled at the way Mr Balls behaves. His arrogance and total disregard for people and the environment is a disgrace. All councils are private corporations run for the profit of their shareholders - which is not us!- and the people are waking up and saying they will no longer put up with it. Compassionless, self-serving people like Mr Balls will no longer be tolerated in positions of power. He must go!Flag

Name: Bernie on Sep 24, 2011Comments: Mr Balls is offering alternative accomodation in basildon and has also identified cultrual plots at sites outside the area for the welfare of children giving them a secure home in the town of basildon which they can live in when they are not travelling why dont they ask tony to supply secure storage for their caravans and take the accomodation for sort term until the planning is sorted in november then when they want to travel they can use their caravans still many people with housing issues have to slum it!!!Flag

Name: Nik Wright on Sep 24, 2011Comments: i am a settled resident and council tax payer on Oak Road. I have never been consulted when it came to deciding to forcibly remove my neighbours from the place they call home, so please do not include me in your 'majority' you say you represent that wish the travellers evicted. If I were to be consulted on either looking at a scrap yard or continuing to live with my neighbours on Dale Farm. I would certainly choose the travellers. I have lived here three years and have had absolutely no cause for complaint, I have never felt terrorised, threatened or disrupted. In fact it is only your plan to evict which has left me and my family feeling vulnerable, isolated and certainly disrupted. I was always brought up to believe a true leader will always review their decisions and when in the wrong will be man or woman enough to admit the mistake and take action to reverse decision. Please be a man, have the bravery to not let pride make you a fool and think again. Do not waste my council tax on this unnecessary eviction. Is planning law in this country really so inflexible that it's application can so detriminatally effect the lives of so many, travellers, neighbours, families and friends. If ever Basildon were to need a strong, compassionate, flexible leader the time is now, if you cannot fulfil this role fully and properly then do the honourable thing and step asideFlag
