bob aziz | The current proposal by the Liberal, NDP and Bloc parties to supplant the ruling minority Conservative government is an affront to democracy. Canadians did not elect these parties as a coalition to govern the Country. The compromise policies developed in order to achieve the coalition were not put forward to the Canadian people to evaluate and voice their approval or disapproval through a democratic election process. If the opposition parties have lost confidence in the Conservative government, then let the voters decide who should lead the country. If the Liberals, NDP and Bloc wish to present themselves as a single party with clearly articulated policies in an election, they are certainly welcome to do so, but the decision must be that of the people, not of a handful of politicians who have no mandate to pursue this course of action.

Lori Brazier | The opposition parties were not given a mandate by the people of Canada to govern. Their philosophies are not uniform. It is unlikely that they will be able to sustain an effective ruling block. Canada is not a banana republic!
Gary MacDonald | Even if the coalition is allowed--30 months of an unelected party is far too long.15 months is more reasonable

Jeff Appleby | This is nuts. Let the people of Canada decide who should run the country. It should not be decided by a group whose leader is clearly not the choice of Canadians and includes someone whose mandate is to destroy the fabric and makeup of our great nation.

This idea of a coalition of parties that were soundly rejected by the people of Canada recently is both humilating from an international perspective, and extermely dysfunctional from a governing perspective. No to this coalition, lets have another election. | Anonymous

Willa Gauthier | This is an outrageous power grab and an affront to the Canadian electorate and clearly illustrates why these parties are indeed the "opposition" and not the choice of Canadians to lead the country.
