These Signatures were collected at Referral and a couple of jobs in the Jurisdiction. Thanks to all that signed and all that took the time to collect the signatures.
These Signatures were received from some Brothers working in Alton. The Names scratched out have actually signed online. Other unnecessary info has been removed.
WE would like to THANK ALL THE OFFICERS (everyone of them) and ALL the Brothers and Sisters in attendance for signing the petition after the close of Our Union Meeting. As of this post with online and in person signatures we have 843 that have signed. We will try to post all the in person sign in sheets as soon as we figure out how to get them on this site.
These three lines were removed because after discussions with various members of Local 134 it does not make sense to make accusations of what people might be thinking. In essence you catch more flies with honey and not vinegar.Resolved, the CE/CW classification is no different than the Carpenters Local 57 in St. Louis starting an electrical division with untrained and unqualified workers; and be it further Resolved, President Ed Hill led the march against Carpenters Local 57 and is now essentially mandating the same thing by instituting CE/CW; and be it further Resolved, that the membership of IBEW Local 134 believes that there is no way someone 1000 miles away can actually know what is really happening in our jurisdiction, we know what is best for our jurisdiction because we actually live and work here; and be it further
Word on the street is the petition is making it's rounds at the referral hall. On Monday October 25, 2010 -- 48 names and card numbers were collected. There would of been more but the brother was by himself and just could not make it to everybody. October 26,2010 --- there were very few calls but still collected 15 names and card numbers.October 28,2010--- 46 more names added from referral. October 29,2010--- 33 more names added on one job. Some people had no idea what this is about, but as soon as you tell them there will be a multi-tier wage scale and they as JW will not be able to sign that book in our local they sign WITHOUT hesitation. Everyone realizes this will affect their livelihood.
A good follow up to the Sun-Times article a month ago. BM tim Foley prepared a statement in this one.http://www.chicagounionnews.com/2010/10/chicago-ibew-official-opposes-plan-by.htmlThe Sun-Times article that started this petition rolling in our local.http://www.suntimes.com/business/2769486,CST-NWS-union04.articleAnd alsohttp://www.chicagounionnews.com/2010/10/as-electricians-union-creates-new-class.html
Resolved, that the membership of IBEW Local 134 believes in a democracy and not a tyrannical dictatorship controlled by someone who does not know what is actually happening in the various locals of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers; and be it furtherThis has been removed and changed to show respect and not start a name calling campaign. It has been replaced withResolved, that the membership of IBEW Local 134 believes that there is no way someone 1000 miles away can actually know what is really happening in our jurisdiction, we know what is best for our jurisdiction because we actually live and work here; and be it further
Brother/ Sister,The No CE/CW petition you signed will given to BM Tim Foley and sent to the IO office. Therefore Signing the petition with your real name and card number is very important to validate the memberships concerns. If everyone was to sign it without a name it would be pointless. If you truly believe in the cause and the severity of CE/CW in our local we encourage you to stand up and state your name and card # and be counted. We understand your concern with using your name. We have been there and felt the pressure and have been layed off for speaking up in the past, but using your name is the only way this will work.As a matter of fact BM Tim Foley stated at the October Union meeting that he will also sign it.Please get the word out to all IBEW local 134 members and send them this link to sign the petition.http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/nocecwlocal134/
