James Foster, CEO of Charles River Laboratories, is listed by PETA as the worst CEO for animals in laboratories. Charles River Laboratories makes its profits by breeding and selling millions of animals—from mice to monkeys—for use in cruel and invasive experiments in laboratories around the world. Charles River Laboratories wants to open a laboratory on Bundy Hill Rd (Lisbon Ct), a residential neighborhood. This facility will be raising day old chicks until the time that fertile eggs can be collected & propagated to create a new flock. There will need to be three “clean” generations of chickens before testing can be started. Once this is done they will infect chicks with live Bursal Disease Virus; the virus will incubate for 2-3 days & then the chicks will be euthanized. Charles River Labs then wants to remove tissue from the chicks, bag the carcasses & place them in a dumpster until they can be picked up & moved to another facility. They will also produce Bursal Disease Anti-sera, anti-sera for Avian Influenza, & Newcastle serums at this facility. To do this the chickens will be infected with one of these viruses, chicks will be eunthanized weeks after infected. The birds blood will be drained, & then sent to another one of their CT facilities. Once again the carcasses will be put in a dumpster, waiting for pick. All of this will take place in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Permit copies can be obtained from Lisbon Town Hall or look for Lisbon, Ct against Charles River Laboratories on Bundy Hill on Facebook. The next Town Hall meeting is scheduled October 23, 6:30 @ the Lisbon Central School Cafeteria. Please come for more information & share your opinion.

Please sign this petition to do your part in trying to keep this laboratory out of Lisbon, CT. This facility does not belong on a residential street!
