Please do not underestimate the fervor of those who oppose Wal-Mart and will not support one in Broomfield. Your tax dollar expectations from a Wal-Mart may well be far off the mark. Please, DO THE RIGHT THING for Broomfield. Make Broomfield a shining example of how a city supports its own, and not behave like sheep, following the pack of Wal-Mart slaves.Flag

Name: KRISTEN HARDER on Jan 15, 2007City: BroomfieldUS State: COComments: I live direcetly behind the Barber plant. The Broomfield animal control "police" walk behind my house 2x a week checking for dogs off leash so they don't disturb the wildlife "birds" and the City of Broomfield employees drive their trucks behind my house at least 1x a week checking for any disturbances in the open space. I don't get the contradiction! We PAY people to maintain that quality of life and I appreciate that the city recognizes that, so I don't understand why the city would even consider a Wal-Mart..... does money really talk that loud If so, I'll just plan on letting my dog run off leash & throw my trash in the open space because it will be obvious Broomfield cares more about the almighty dollar then the quality of life I thought I had moving to Broomfield 8 years ago!Flag

Name: Marsha Williams on Jan 16, 2007City: BroomfieldUS State: COComments: I truly believe that there are better uses for this property, and can see examples in all directions (Avaya, Bradburn, etc). It is hard for me to believe that the City Council would approve such a large entity in this space backing up to long time residents of Broomfield. We already have a Walmart - and it is ideally situated in an area of big box retail at the Flatirons development that we as citizens supported. We certainly don't need another one!Flag

We have Wal-Marts easily accessible for those who wish to distroy America, we don't need more!Flag

Name: Kim MIchie on Jan 16, 2007City: BroomfieldUS State: COComments: No Wal-Mart in the Gateway Corridor. One is bad enough in town. It will drive out the other business owners that have been part of the community and supported the city with their sales tax revenue. How quickly the city is ready to abandon these business's in return for a company that will abandon the city if the store underperforms.Flag

Name: Melissa Rawsky on Jan 16, 2007City: BroomfieldUS State: COComments: The city does not need another Wal-Mart to create a drain on its cash both via subsidies and the inevitable increase of assistance needed for its employees to obtain medical care, etc. Let's get a retailer in here that actually behaves as though it cares about families, not one that is just all spin and damage control once people find out just what an anti-family, anti-individual, anti-community company it is!Flag

Name: Patricia Bemis on Jan 16, 2007City: BroomfieldUS State: COComments: Please do not change the Beautiful Broomfield that I fell in love with 7 years ago when I moved here. Walmart is a bad neighbor and would only cause many of our smaller businesses to go out of business and leaves vacant building dotting our community. We already have 3 Walmart Super centers within 5 miles of the area. When is enough enoughFlag

Name: Bill Bemis on Jan 17, 2007City: BroomfieldUS State: COComments: Adding on to some of the comments listed above, myself and my wife find ourselves going to Westminster to shop and to dine out. The only place we go in Broomfield is Flat Irons Crossing. It would be great to have something go to the Baber's property that had shopping and dinning. A place were people in Broomfield would like to go and SPEND money. We already have too many Wal Marts that are too close together and the one we do have in Broomfield is not doing very well. The Barbers property is near the entrance to Broomfield, what a way to welcome visitors to our fine community, the first thing they see is a Wal Mart. Let's get real and put our best foot forward and come up with something that will not only benefit the people in our own community, but would be a place that people outside of our community would like to come and visit. Just like to we have to go to Westminster where they have much more to offer and I'm sure they are getting alot of money from Broomfield residents.Flag
