This is a HIDEOUS practice! Thank you for bringing it to the attention of the world!

I strongly support this petition. Bodies harvested by the Chinese. is NOT how I want my children learning about anatomy. Stop the field trips!
I think these organizations should have to provide proof of legal consent by the surviving relatives of the bodies on display. Although various documents could be faked it would let them know somebody is watching and may inspect their sources.

As a licensed North Carolina teacher and mother, I find this to be the most disturbing use and abuse of the human body since Nazi Germany. It is in no way "educational" as most children would be traumatized by this undignified and immoral display of carved human beings for profit. How does one explain that no consent was ever given to be carved and displayed by greedy businessmen? Children and med students learn more than enough about the human body in a very dignified and controlled environment. This is certainly neither. I am shocked and appalled at the apathy and fascination by this outrageous "side show". Let me ask you this....would you want your wife, mother or child to be part of the exhibit? Let's see how many volunteers come forward to donate their loved ones to be deskinned and hung for all to see. I promise you that the exhibit would be out of business in no time. By the way, where are all the civil rights groups?

To know and understand the human body is an extraordinary thing, but to exploit the dead for profit is quite another. I am sure that these people nor their families had any idea that they would be skinned and posed in ridiculous positions and displayed at the Mall, of all places. There is a moral line that has been crossed and the public should be aware of the exploitation of the poor, and imprisoned folks that are robbed of their dignity for cold hard cash.
The laws need to be tightened. I am afraid the exemption for educational institutions is a loophole a mile wide. Even if permission was obtained the exhibit would still be wrongs. Real bodies are not needed to educate. They are being used to attract attention and sell tickets. This and similar exhibits turn the body into a commodity, and that is a dangerous direction to go. We are more that this. Respect for the living requires us to treat the remains with respect; not to use them for the purpose of bringing in the crowds. The so called heatlh benefits about seeing the exhibit are absurd. The exhibit is mostly about marketing, and how to make something palatable that really is not. And by the way, no one can give you permission to do something that is wrong. | 44 | I want to help stop the display of human remains for profit. I'm confident that criminal activity is involved in exhibits of bodies for profit, ie, Bodies, the exhibition. It is probable that innocent people were murdered for these displays.
The statement made by show producers, "no next of kin to claim the body," proves the flawed jiustification and suspicious practices behind BODIES. For a fetus procured via miscarriage: by definition, the biological mother, ie, next of kin. is indeed present at the time of miscarriage.

This is a disgrace to the laws supposedly protecting the US public. These poor things have not been inspected for health risk to the public either!
Regretfully, I attended the Bodies Exhibition in Rosslyn, VA. I'm fascinated about the complexity of the human anatomy and it's functions but was unaware of the controversy surrounding the exhibit. Following my tour, I asked the museum staff about the origins of the bodies and if the people gave informed consent. They informed me that the bodies were from China and assured me that the people donated their bodies to a local medical institution. I've been thinking about the people who were put on display and a couple of things disturbed me. Why were all of the bodies from China? I know Chinese people generally are religious and superstitious and it logically doesn't follow that they would donate their bodies to science? I also didn't believe the "donors" knew or their families knew the state in which their bodies would be showcased for profit. Because of my concerns, I stared searching the Internet for more knowledge and I wish I would have done the research before I purchased my tickets. Please continue to put the word out about this controversy, hopefully it would generate a full investigation. We all need to get involved and spread the word.
