Name: David Govan on Jul 8, 2008Comments: The Ontario Government needs to stop hiding behind their present stance and allow the people and market conditions to decide what is best for the citizens of Ontario. Allowing foreign corporations to dictate how, where, when, and what brands are sold to us is simply rediculous and an insult to the people of Ontario and especially to CANADIAN beer companies. In typical liberal fashion, the present government is interested in only two things: the money they generate from taxes on beer sales, and to continually babysit the citizens of Ontario who they feel are much too immature and fool hardy to control their drinking without government intervention (read control).Flag

Name: Bill Pettersen on Jul 8, 2008Comments: If food stores and grocery stores are going to sell beer, they should be required to do as thorough a job at controlling underage access as the Beer Store does. Currently, they do an abysmal job with tobacco. I don't have a problem with breaking up a monopoly, but only if adequate controls are in place for ALL players in the game.Flag

Name: Anonymous on Jul 8, 2008Comments: The beer monopoly is a silly remnant of a government knows best system. It punishes small brewers, drives up the price of beer, and puts the government in the conflicted position of both marketing alcohol and controlling its distribution. We sell cigarettes in corner stores but not beer. Dumb.Flag
