Name: Mike Emory on Sep 6, 2011Comments: I went to Montreal on the weekend and stopped off at Costco. The price there for Stella, Heineken, Corona, Bud Light Lime, etc. was $23.75 for a case of 24 bottles plus deposit. At the Beer Store it is $42.95 to $44.75 plus deposit. So we have established that competition brings prices down but what about drinking and driving which i don't want to see rise. Well Statistics Canada keeps stats on this stuff and breaks it down by province. In 2010 Ontario's rate was 135 charges per 100,000 people, Quebec 207. Both are close compared to all the maritime provinces that ranged from 363 to 511 cases per 100,000 people. So there is no significant increase in selling beer and wine in grocery and convenience stores. So all that is holding fare trade is large beer company greed.........Flag

Name: Matt Mcdougall on Sep 21, 2011Comments: The Beer Store in Ontario should be abolished just like the Bank of Canada, it's a fraud monopoly system for the rich. Let all stores sell beer, it makes no sense to let the beer store be the only one allowed to sell beer in Ontario, unless someone is getting a kick back. The government is getting paid under the table to keep this monopoly going, and the public is getting screwed!Flag

Name: Fern Laporte on Nov 10, 2011Comments: it would be a boon for tourism in this province if our guests were treated as adults and allowed to purchase beer & wine like in Quebec. It's long overdue & sales would definitely would go up. Stop dictating when and where beer must be purchasedFlag
